Does a database or map of old racetracks exist? I have seen a few posts about them recently. Something about them is really cool to me. I go on road trips frequently and would like to see them. I go by in use tracks and big stadiums when I can, but these are even cooler.
If one doesn't exist, how hard is it to create a map like the Oppo members map where people can add them?

Is that a football field next to a regulation 400m running track within a racetrack? I like this place.

This ongoing thread on VWVortex is pretty comprehensive.

Not a database, but if you like old racetracks you should check out the "Temples Of Speed" articles from Speedhunters: http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/database-map-o…
(if you haven't seen it already)

I'd seen a few of the articles on there but not all, thanks!

Enjoy! I think the "Terrordome" in Spain is maybe my favorite, though Brooklands and of course Nurburgring (I'm German heritage, after all) are strong contenders. But the remarkable preservation of the Spain's old oval is really something. Reminds me of a summer training camp I did on the Trexlertown velodrome. Banked tracks seem so logical, sensible in the abstract. Then you seen them in person, and they're terrifying.

Search "Racing circuits of the past" on google. There is an excellent site out there by that name, or close to it.
Edit: Think I found it: www. circuitsofthepast .nl/en-US
